Flash trigger arrived.

Flash trigger SR-009

I followed the support advice and bought the SR-009 flash trigger, but as expected the trigger never lit up.

I had a faint hope that it would be compatible with the EOS R50’s multi-function shoe, but that wasn’t the case. Of course.

This is the hot shoe connection side of the SR-009.
I knew it would be like this, but it’s designed to only connect the X contact.

What should we do next?

To be honest, if the Seafrogs housing for the EOS R50 was compatible with a built-in pop-up flash, everything would be solved.

At the moment, there is no way to fire an external flash, so it’s a design flaw as an underwater housing, and I would like to return it if possible.

I’ve been in contact with support about the SR-009 problem, but support alone probably doesn’t have enough knowledge to say anything other than “it can be done.”

They say they’ve tested it, but I wonder if that’s true.

It should be well known that you can’t use an X-contact flash with the EOS R50 hot shoe.

I thought it might be based on the EOS R100, which is almost the same shape, but if that were the case, there would be no need for an ISO button.
