Seafrogs-Purchase of a housing for the EOS R50. Part 2.

Continuation from last time. And a new problem.

Leak problem.

Last time I checked the vacuum adapter for air leakage.
After that, I reset the housing and checked again, and the air leakage was gone.

I wonder why. I’ll use it like this for now.

One thing I’m concerned about is the main O-ring on the housing lid and the main body.

  • The burrs are a bit noticeable.
In a way this can’t be helped, but I was only able to fit it in such a way that the burrs were exactly where they would fit into the contact surface with the housing, so it’s a bit worrying.
  • There are some places where it seems like the O-ring protrudes only a little.
I guess it’s sealed by being pressed into the housing, but I wonder if there might be a small gap.

Connecting plate.

The above is a picture of the plate part of the housing.

There are three holes, but the distance between the centers of the right and left holes is about 32mm.

This distance made it difficult to attach to the base grip I had.
I was able to attach it, but the attachment part looked strange. Maybe it’s because my base grip is quite old.

I checked and found that the minimum width of INON’s is “30mm and up,” so I wonder if it will be okay if it’s just about that.
I also looked on Amazon and other sites and found quite a few that seemed to fit 30mm.
Looking at the photo of the base grip on Amazon, it looked the same shape as the one sold by Seafrogs, so I wonder if they are selling them as cheap products?

The next problem was the structure of the screw holes.

The plate is about 3mm thick. About 5mm inside that, there is no thread.

Therefore, depending on the length, it cannot be used if the thread is only cut at the tip, as in the photo below.
If it goes all the way in, the screw will spin freely.
Therefore, you may need to use something like a spacer to align the screw position with the screw hole position in the plate.

Either way, the base grips I have won’t work as is, so I might have to think about inserting a spacer or buying a new one.

I initially thought I’d only need to buy the housing, but it looks like I’ll have to buy a lot more on top of that.
I’m feeling a bit disheartened.
